Military Injury Relief Fund - Monday, November 19, 2007

Effective July 1, 2007 the Military Injury Relief Fund, which will be used to make grants to individuals injured while in active service as a member of the armed forces of the United States and while serving under Operation Iraqi Freedom or Operation Enduring Freedom. Service members may file more than once in a life time but only once within an application period (July 1, 2007 through June 30, 2008) The Veterans Service Commission is here to assist veterans and active duty service members in filing for this grant. Below is helpful information taken for the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Service’s website at http://www.odjfs.state.oh.us/veterans/new/mirf.asp. The lesser-known veterans service organizations - Tuesday, September 11, 2007

The Summit County Court of Common Pleas appoints the five commissioners of the Veterans Service Commission from five different organizations. Four of the commissioners are appointed from American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Disabled American Veterans (DAV), and American Veterans (Am Vets). The fifth commissioner is appointed from lesser-known organizations. Read more....

God & Country Dinner - Tuesday, January 23, 2007
2007 Annual Summit County God & Country Program will be February 3, 2007 at the Acker-Moore Memorial American Legion & Veterans of Foreign Wars, 3733 Fishcreek Rd, Stow 5:00 pm Hospitality (cash bar), 6:00 pm Dinner, 7:00 pm Program, 8:00 pm Entertainment.
