The Ohio Veterans Home Agency is Veterans Affair program that currently has IMMEDIATE openings in the Domiciliary, otherwise known as independent living!

As a County Veterans Service Officer, you may already know of a veteran in your county that would benefit from this opportunity. The mission at the Ohio Veterans Home, since 1888, is “Serving Those Who Served” and we are requesting your assistance to inform those in your county who would qualify for this type of service.

Veterans Hall, a domiciliary (DOM), is for those who are able to function in an independent living situation. All residents have the freedom and convenience of a small community as well as the comforts of a home-like setting. The Ohio Veterans Home Agency offers a quality of life, which emphasizes privacy, encourages independence, provides comfort and security, and meets social needs.

To be eligible for admission into an Ohio Veterans Home facility, an individual must have been a resident of Ohio for 5 years, a veteran of the United States Armed Forces who has been honorably discharged, and have served on active duty during a period of war or declared conflict or has been a recipient of the Purple Heart, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Navy/Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Service Medal or Southwest Asia Service Medal. In addition, the veteran must be disabled by disease, wounds or otherwise and are, by reason of such disability, unable to earn a living. Veterans meeting these criteria shall be admitted without regard to age, race, disability, gender or income.

The maximum assessment charged to the resident for care in the Domiciliary is approximately one-third the cost of a private facility. This assessment fee is the maximum fee, but most Ohio Veterans Home residents pay substantially less due to a VA Per Diem, and is based on the veterans ability to pay. The monthly assessment covers all meals, OVH provided medical services, VA formulary medications and most medical supplies.
