At the VSC, we’re welcoming our neighbors – residents, organizations and businesses – to give back to Summit County Veteran families through the donation of toys and gift cards through our annual “12 Days of Gifting” toy donation drive. And we’re also celebrating the service to our community through a free “Appreciation Lunch” on Sat., Dec. 11 from 10 to 2 p.m. at our Akron office, 1060 E. Waterloo Rd., Akron, OH 44306.
From now until through the Appreciation Lunch, we’re accepting new, unwrapped toys and gift cards to benefit Veterans in Summit County who have received services through the VSC by providing gifts to their children and/or dependents at Christmas. New for 2021, the VSC of Summit County Toy Donation Drive also will benefit any pre-qualified Summit County, honorably discharged Veterans who meet S.N.A.P. income guidelines. Toys are for children between the ages of newborn and 12; gift cards are available for those children older than 12 to age 18. Please apply by visiting the VSC website and clicking on the Toy Drive banner.
Drop-off new, unwrapped toys or gift cards at our Akron office from now through 12/11/21!
Join us for our FREE “Appreciation Lunch” and enjoy a hot lunch, learn more about the VSC and its services, obtain new dog tags and/or a Veteran ID card and experience the mobile adoption unit from the Humane Society of Summit County.
If you’re a Veteran interested in obtaining new dog tags and/or a Veteran ID card, please bring a DD Form 214 certificate with proof of honorable discharge and a photo ID. In order to obtain dog tags and/or a Veteran ID card at the event, Veterans are asked to visit www.VSCSummitOH.us to fill out required paperwork online prior to arriving at the event.
Toys and gift cards will be distributed through appointments, starting Sat., Dec. 18 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. then Dec. 20 thru Dec. 22 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Thursday, Dec. 23 from 9 a.m. until noon.
